Myrtle Beach Polar Plunge Raises $45,000 for 2021

It’s sure been a different kind of year, and this year’s Polar Plunges are different too.

We want to give a huge thank you to everyone who donated and those who participated in our annual Polar Plunge Myrtle beach that was held on Saturday, January 30th, 2021. It was our 16th annual Polar Plunge!

This year, we are proud to announce that $45,000.00 was raised via the Myrtle Beach event and the great teams that raised funds!

Per Myrtle Beach Plunge Director, Marcus Rhodes, “Our community is a loving, caring community and they want to do good. Police officers, community members, schools, and athletes came out here today to raise money and awareness. Some people said they raised hundreds or even thousands of dollars as COVID-19 takes a toll on nonprofits’ finances.”

It was certainly a cold day! Some were bundled up and many took the brave plunge into the cold Atlantic with just bathing suits on! Whew!

Each year, Polar Plunge South Carolina showcases the annual plunge events throughout the state – with the help of The Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics South Carolina – to help garner financial support for the 30,707 Special Olympics South Carolina athletes.
