Take The Plunge!
The Lake Wateree Polar Plunge is an annual event full of fun that helps to raise funds for the Special Olympics of South Carolina.
Due to the pandemic, we’re asking participants to plunge at-home with members of their household to maximize safety.
Virtual Plunge Options:
• Dip in a pool, pond, lake, or the ocean
• Have someone spray you down with a hose
• Jump in an ice-cold bathtub
• Let someone dump an ice-cold bucket of water over your head
• Have a water balloon toss
Taking the plunge for our athletes is about much more than jumping into freezing water – it’s about showing the world that you stand for inclusion and opportunity for thousands of people with intellectual disabilities throughout South Carolina.
By “Freezin’ for a Reason” you’re creating more opportunities for determined athletes to experience the life-changing benefits of participating in the Special Olympics.
Make a big splash for a great cause!

To participate in the Lake Wateree Polar Plunge event, you just need to raise a minimum of $50.
Ask your friends, family, neighbors, and co-workers if they’d like to contribute to your fundraising goal or donate to support your team.
Have fun at the “Plunge and Go!” event, or get creative with your own “Virtual Plunge”! Then, post a photo or video on Facebook, Instagram, or TikTok – use the hashtag #polarplungesc.
